Fantasy adventure games
Fantasy and sci-fi adventure games are very popular. You wake up in a strange world, not quite sure where you are you have to gather objects and solve mysteries to find your way out. It can be either aliens, magic, monsters or ghosts, fantasy adventure games always find a way to surprise us and to keep us wondering what will happen next. Many of these great games were made in the 80s by developers like Sierra and LucasArt, but it's important not to forget the amazing contribution of independant developers who, often working alone, managed to make amazing games, that were as or more addictive as the commercial games of the time.

One very popular fantasy adventure game was Day of the Tentacle, featuring strange creatures, time travel machines and portable toilets. Even if there were many genres of adventure games at that time, many featured some fantasy or sci-fi elements somewhere in the story.
